Parts Picker 1st shift

JOB SUMMARY:

The Parts Picker is responsible for the picking of all parts, assembling the needed carts in the order necessary for assembly or pre-assembly. They also work closely with the 1st Shift carting superviosr and Mid-shift production planner to determine any needs that may arise regarding carting. Is available to cross train in Pre-Assembly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Reviews and becomes familiar with all carting areas and parts needs required.
2. Responsible for setting and implementing all training aspects of the new parts pickers.
3. Complete understanding of the carting system as well as the hand held PC's required to perform the requirements of the position.
4. Complete understanding of picking areas and zones and the keen ability to recognize and determine parts required to be carted.
5. Ability to recognize and determine if the part goes on a cart or runner.
6. Coordinates with QA any quality or scrap issues pertaining to parts or parts making when identified during picking.
7. Firm understanding of what to do upon completion of a picked cart.
8. Assists in Pre-assembly when needed.
9. Verifies and assists with proper part counts and inventory control.
10. Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job.

Performs other duties as assigned and needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Strong ability to anticipate upcoming issues to prevent inefficiencies. Continuous communication between all shifts necessary. Excellent people skills. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 150 lbs. Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Good knowledge of Fourth Shift or the ability to learn it a plus. Good computer skills a plus as well.
