Job Description
General Description: This position is responsible for preparing blood test orders, performing accurate and efficient blood draw techniques for routine blood work, and helping customers with questions and issues relating to blood tests.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate and efficient blood draw techniques (phlebotomy) for routine blood work (Must maintain >92% success rate on blood draws) and prepare samples for LabCorp pickup.
- Handle and process all specimens correctly throughout collection process, including utilizing correct tube-types, labeling all specimens, centrifuging, separating, and freezing when required.
- Process returned blood test kits, preparing their contents for daily LabCorp pickup
- Perform routine quality checks on all laboratory equipment (centrifuge, freezer, etc)
- Ensure ongoing stock replenishment of essential lab supplies by communicating inventory needs with lab management.
- Follow all lab-related SOPs; Maintain cleanliness in the work area and lab
- Prepare lab test orders and package kits for shipment to customers throughout the US
- Ensure a high level of customer service in all customer interactions consistent with Life Extension philosophy of superior customer service.
- Perform various computer tasks and maintain knowledge of key internal & external systems including LabCorp Link, Accudraw and Life Extension’s electronic customer records.
- Additional duties as needed
- Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position
Position Requirements:
- HS Diploma or equivalent; Phlebotomy certificate or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months of routine phlebotomy experience
- Knowledge and experience with routine sample processing, including centrifugation and separation techniques
- Knowledge of universal precautions and collection of biohazard waste material, including sharps containment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to work well as part of a team and flexibility to work overtime based on business need
- Experience with an elderly population preferred
