About Evolve

The position: Steel Detailer

Job Description

· Read and Interpret Architectural and Structural Building Plans and specifications

· Create set of Shop Drawings for Structural steel items showing required dimensions, welds, holes, locations.

· Prepare shop drawings using AISC and AWS standards

· Create set of Shop Drawings for Miscellaneous steel items showing required dimensions, welds, holes, locations.

· Use and understand basic 3D modeling operations and detail processes.

· Use & Understand Basic Weld Types and Sizing in various applications.

· Understand Basic Construction techniques

· Plan & Calculate lengths and dimensions of various steel elements according to construction tolerances.

· Understand basic Fabrication Process

· Organized and able to prioritize project needs

Preferred Knowledge & Qualifications for Steel Detailers

A. 5+ years’ experience in industry

B. Distinguish between basic construction trade drawings

1. Architectural

2. Structural

3. HVAC

4. Plumbing

5. Electrical

C. Understand Basic Plan/Section Nomenclature

D. Coordinate Gathering of Information between various trade drawings

E. Interpret and assess relevant information in various sections and plans with regard to structural and miscellaneous steel.

F. Locate and assess conflicts between trade drawings.

G. Understand and Use drawing scale

H. Building models using Tekla Structures

I. Write RFI’s
