Pinon Unified School District, a leader in primary and secondary education, is seeking an Exceptional Student Service Director to join our team of dedicated professionals. Our district has a rich history of providing quality education to the children of our community since 1984, and we have grown to include three campuses and a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses preschool through grade 12. Our ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who can lead in the development and implementation of programs and services to meet the specific needs of our exceptional students.


Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of a comprehensive program for exceptional student services
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to identify students with exceptional needs and develop individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations regarding the education of students with disabilities
  • Monitor the delivery of services to exceptional students and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Provide professional development and training to staff and teachers on strategies and techniques for teaching exceptional students
  • Act as a liaison between the district and community agencies that provide services to exceptional students
  • Manage the budget for exceptional student services and ensure that funds are used effectively and efficiently

Requirements

  • Master's degree in special education or related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in special education, with at least three years in a leadership role
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to the education of exceptional students
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and community agencies
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
