School Age Group Leader

Job Summary

At Susanna Wesley, our School Age Group Leaders are characterized by humility in their relationships, an eagerness for knowledge, and an intelligent approach to their work. They are instrumental in our programs geared toward elementary school-age children, including Before and After School Care, School Days Out, and Summer Camp. Leveraging their experience with school-age children and their understanding of child and youth development, the Group Leaders are responsible for implementing the programs effectively and establishing supportive relationships with children and families, all within a nurturing and safe environment illuminated by God’s love and the church’s values.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old with one year of relevant experience.
• Exemplifies humility and respect in interactions.
• Eager to deepen understanding of child and youth development.
• Competent in planning and implementing group activities.
• Experience in fostering positive relationships with children and families.
• Willing to become First Aid, CPR, and Safe Gatherings certified.
• (Preferred) Knowledge of licensing regulations governing school-age programs.
• (Preferred) Relationship with Jesus Christ.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the safety and well-being of children and youth in the group, providing supervision and guidance.
• Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that stimulate learning and social interaction.
• If applicable, provide direction to an assistant group leader, contributing to their professional growth and enhancing the team’s effectiveness.
• Always ensure strict adherence to licensing regulations and church policies.
• Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their children's progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
• Participate actively in professional development opportunities to continually enhance skills and knowledge.
