Job Description:

Schedule:

  • Standard work hours: Approximately 8 to 10 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with shifts ranging from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Remote working available when appropriate.

Job Summary: The ideal Project Manager is an individual with a minimum of 2 years’ experience project managing or estimating civil and/or environmental construction projects. You will work directly with our clients to ensure their projects are successful. As a Project Manager, the position oversees all aspects of projects, including the management and development of project supervisors, field crews, and field activities. The Project Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is eligible for full benefits and a company vehicle. Responsibilities include estimating projects (see below), implementing quality control programs, creating S.O.P.s, managing schedules, work orders, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. This role is crucial to ERC's goals related to site safety, quality control, and staff training and development.

Typical Projects Managed and/or Estimated Include:

  • Soil Remediation: Managing both hazardous and non-hazardous soil remediation efforts.
  • Fuel Storage Tank Removal: Overseeing the removal of underground and aboveground fuel storage tanks.
  • Stream and Wetland Restoration: Planning and executing projects for stream and wetland restoration and construction.
  • Landfill Capping: Implementing landfill capping projects to enhance environmental safety.
  • Low head Dam Removal: Undertaking removal projects in streams and rivers to improve aquatic ecosystems.
  • Small Building Demolition: Coordinating the demolition of small structures.
  • Brownfield Restoration: Leading initiatives to restore and revitalize brownfield sites.


Duties & Functions:

Essential Project Managing Functions:

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives, prioritize safety, quality, and staff development.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee scheduling, work orders, and timesheet management.
  • Promote accurate cost tracking and prompt invoicing to maximize profitability and cash flow.
  • Engage in some Business Development activities to contribute to ERC's growth.
  • Ensure comprehensive training and preparedness of field employees for their respective roles.

General Financial Administration:

  • Review contract scope and provide feedback as needed.
  • Recommend and adhere to the operating budget for the fiscal year.

Field Operations:

  • Serve as a manager for construction crews, establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Dispatch projects and services with appropriate staff.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and of high quality.

Materials & Supplies

  • Responsible for project inventory controls and reporting.
  • Propose solutions for enhanced methods and staffing if needed.

Employee Development & Recruitment:

  • Create a professional and supportive work environment.
  • Supervise construction teams and develop personnel.
  • Assist in recruitment, hiring, training, and discipline of employees.

Safety & Environmental Compliance:

  • Drive safety initiatives, conduct safety meetings, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Promote a safe working culture and investigate incidents.

Essential Estimating Functions:

  • Identify bid opportunities through proactive public bid opportunity searches and client interactions
  • Perform and evaluate material takeoffs.
  • Create estimates using ERC’s estimating software
  • Attend site walks and pre-bid meetings
  • Prepare professional and complete bid packages
  • Qualify products by reviewing specifications and providing submittals and certifications for our products to meet the project requirements.
  • Track project pipeline in CRM database to assist in pipeline forecasting, close rates, and competitive information to support current and future project development.
  • Participate in sales team meetings and collaborate with Sales Team to drive business development.

Mental/Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions, as well as safety procedures.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain a cooperative attitude under stressful situations.
  • Must exhibit spatial awareness.
  • Vision and Hearing: Must have clear vision and hearing within a normal range, with or without correction.
  • Skills/Technical Knowledge:
  • Understanding of signals used to communicate with construction machinery operators.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
