Summer Camp Counselor Job Description We are looking for Camp Counselors which will be responsible for managing, caring for, loving, and the safety of 6-12 campers of various ages during summer camp. What do Camp Counselors do? Most importantly of all Camp Counselors will create genuine relationships with the youth in your charge while ensuring their safety at all times. During each week of camp, you will supervise your campers, eat meals with them, oversee their participation in all camp activities, help them build friendships, and help them work through conflicts. The job duties of a Camp Counselor include planning summer camp games, educating children and teenagers, setting up equipment or supplies for scheduled activities, and keeping your respective campers' spaces clean and organized. Being reliable and able to build good relationships with children are essential traits of a Camp Counselor. You need to have knowledge around outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking, and canoeing. The ideal candidate is grounded in his/her faith, has solid conflict resolution skills, is patient, energetic, and structured. Responsibilities - Make sure all safety rules are followed - Supporting and facilitating relationships between campers and our Lord, Jesus Christ. - Create daily/weekly camper schedules taking into account children's ages/developmental stages, and interests - Lead recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, hiking, or crafting) - Supervise children at all times while on duty - Educate campers through games and explorations - Plan outdoor activities or sports for groups of campers - Set up and maintain equipment for all recreational activities - Provide conflict resolution between campers and address behavioral issues - Ensure camping site is clean and that campers don't litter recreational areas or nature - Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed - Keep accurate incident logs - Have fun with campers and all camp personnel - paid or volunteer
