HDR is looking for anElectrical EIT / Designer to join our Building Engineering Services OH/PA/WV team. HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group (BES) provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural and specialty design services for a wide variety of buildings that include public, municipal, private, and Federal project types across the region and globally. With a team of experienced staff in specific market areas such as Science and Technology, Education, Healthcare, CRE, Mission Critical, Data Centers, Manufacturing, Transportation, Water, Federal and Resources facilities, we provide engineering excellence for our clients. We have an industry leading focus on sustainable design and energy conservation.

Primary Responsibilities

We are looking for an Electrical EIT / Designer with experience in designing medium voltage and building electrical systems for various types of buildings to join our team. This individual will assist senior electrical engineers in designing buildings electrical and control systems. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing medium voltage and building electrical design (schematic drawings, design development, final design documents) and specifications for several concurrent projects in close coordination with senior electrical engineers, electrical section manager and the balance of a multi-disciplined team throughout a project's development from preliminary design stages to construction phase.
  • Coordinating and adjusting the work effort with the design team to ensure that the work is completed within budget and on schedule.
  • Participate in client meetings and design and production meetings regarding building electrical systems.
  • Ability to coordinate with power utility companies and understand substation design.
  • Ability to coordinate with equipment manufacturers.
  • Conducting reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, self-starter and able to coordinate work with other team members effectively.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis or closely related discipline

• EIT or ability to obtain within 12 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Mechanical Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.

• Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, load calculation software, energy modeling software, and manufacturer equipment selection

• Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration

• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering

• 2+ years of experience in electrical design of complex buildings and campuses.

• Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required

• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired.

• Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements

• Familiarity with lighting design, controls, and signal design

• Local Candidates Preferred
