POSITION OVERVIEW

As a CNC Operator/ CNC Machinist at JGM, you will play a vital role in our structural steel manufacturing process by operating and maintaining our Kinetic K5200XMC machining center. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Machine Setup and Operation: Set up and operate the Kinetic K5200XMC CNC machining center to produce high-quality components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Tool Selection and Maintenance: Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures for each job, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to machining requirements. Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to keep them in good working condition.
  • Programming and Troubleshooting: Interpret CNC programs and make necessary adjustments to optimize machining processes. Troubleshoot issues related to tool wear, machine malfunctions, or programming errors to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections of machined components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Monitor machining calibrations and processes ensuring tight tolerances and compliance with quality standards. Inspect work in process to ensure equipment is calibrated and functioning properly. Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately record production data, including setup times, cycle times, and quantities produced. Generate reports as needed to track performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Follow regulatory requirements and company policies related to machining operations, equipment maintenance, and workplace safety.
  • Sort processed material as directed by the Processing Superintendent.
  • Start machines or equipment to begin production processes.
  • Material handling using forklifts, overhead crane, and pallet jacks.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in CNC machining preferred.
  • Safety focused. Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, with proficiency in operating CNC milling machines or similar equipment.
  • Familiarity with G-code programming and CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks) is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues effectively.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and machining techniques.
  • Able to work in a team environment but remain self-motivated.

  • Climb stepladders and extension ladders and stairs and work from a raised platform.
  • Operate tools properly and safely.
  • Pass pulmonary tests to wear respirator.
