CNC Machinist II - Milling

Overview:

The Shop Tech II position is responsible for the set-up and operation of various types of conventional and CNC machine shop equipment inclusive of, but not limited to, manual engine lathes, Bridgeport mills, Hardinge tool room and chucker lathes, CNC machining centers, etc., to produce complex and diversified high tolerance products to meet operational requirements. The individual in this role will actively participate in documentation review, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, equipment set-up/operation, and component inspection related activities, with little supervision. The incumbent must be an individual who can multi-task and perform various machine shop related activities, in a manner that complies with company requirements (i.e. regulatory, safety, administrative, etc.).

Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities :
  • Manufacture parts using a variety of tools, equipment and materials, as per standard operating procedures
  • Set-up and operate machine shop equipment in an effective, efficient, safe and consistent manner
  • Perform in-process inspection, as per set standards by organization
  • Use and measure the parts using Calipers, Micrometers, Depth gages etc.
  • Operate multiple machines, as directed
  • Interpret various types of graphs and data used in problem solving, SPC, monitoring of performance metrics, etc.
  • Coordinate, execute, document (as required), and bring to closure machine shop related activities, in a timely manner, through effective interaction with other individuals within the organization
  • Read and interpret documents (i.e. blueprints/technical drawings, operation/tool/set-up sheets, routers, procedures, ECN's, etc.) in an effective manner to produce conforming product on a timely basis.
  • Interpret various types of graphs/data required for problem solving, SPC and monitoring of performance metrics
  • Set-up and operate various types of CNC and manual machine shop equipment in an effective, efficient, safe and consistent manner to support customer requirements, with little to no supervision
  • Review documentation and inspect material to ensure methods, procedures, equipment and tooling are capable of producing conforming product in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Communicate issues w/recommendations to the appropriate personnel.
  • Effectively perform component/material inspections utilizing the appropriate measuring equipment/instruments.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities to resolve issues and provide improvement recommendations.

  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.

  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals
  • Assist in the training of personnel to perform required technical tasks (as directed)

  • Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.


Work Environment :
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • This is a full-time position; 4-Day Work Week - Monday-Thursday (6:00AM-4:30PM)
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required, as job duties demand.
  • No travel is expected for this position


Physical Requirements :
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand at length (7-8 hours, daily), sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move about the facility.
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 70 lbs.


Minimum Required Qualifications :
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2-5 yrs. of experience in machining
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to analyze, organize, plan, multi-task and achieve results through effective interaction with others.
  • Possess math skills required to effectively and efficiently read, interpret documents (i.e. blueprints/technical drawings, operation/tool/set-up sheets, procedures, ECN's, routers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the areas of Lean Manufacturing concepts, employee training, GD&T practices, interpretation of machine shop documentation (blue prints, ECN's, operation/tooling sheets, routers, etc.), inspection methods, effective utilization of measuring equipment/instruments, root cause investigations, troubleshooting, and performance metrics.
  • Proficient in the utilization of C.N.C. machine controls and editing associated machine code.
  • Effective verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization
  • Computer literate, with MS Office/PC experience
  • Must be a US Citizen
