Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies Company, is seeking a Senior Associate Quality Engineer at our AMF site located in Toney, AL. 

 

The Quality Engineer is responsible for the design, development and implementation of standards, methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of company products in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. Performs analysis on reported nonconformities and discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical systems, field and clinical data and investigates the cause for discrepancies and nonconformities to develop disposition and recommend corrective action plans.  The Quality Engineer may lead material review boards and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities. The Engineer also interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met and conducts program quality cost account management and manages supplier corrective actions and serves as the primary interface to customers and supplier for quality related matters.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Utilizes engineering background and expertise to communicate between team members and customer counterparts to provide assurance that the hardware is compliant to specifications. Handles and communicates deviations/nonconformance at different levels within the organization. Understands and communicates typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, non-destructive testing, etc.) and how they are applied to the hardware being manufactured.
  • Applies modern quality principles, concepts, and methods to routine aerospace and manufacturing operation, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations.
  • Prepares comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports and presentations for customer review throughout the evaluation process. Reviews all supplier data and ensures that it is complete and accurate before the data is reviewed by the customer.
  • Interfaces with the Material Review Board (MRB) to provide technical justification when a nonconformance to mutually agreed specifications is determined.

Requires Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
