Summary: A Director of Health Services or Medical Director is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the MPA Health Services Department. Their duties include ensuring student healthcare needs are being met, ensuring healthcare laws, regulations, standards and best practices are incorporated and implemented in daily practices, monitoring facility or department health care budgets, supervising health office employees (with input from directors) and developing strategies for continuous quality improvement of health services including communication between medical professionals, faculty, parents/legal guardians, referral sources and students.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with the leadership team to formulate, develop, implement and evaluate a Health Services strategy to achieve the organization's vision, mission and goals, and to create value to its stakeholders.
  • Regularly engage in direct communication with MPA Leadership on key health services/medical resources matters.
  • Collaborate in Health Services personnel recruitment efforts to ensure that the organization is effectively and efficiently sourcing and selecting the right candidates.
  • Manage the Health Services Dept. budget.
  • Manage and assist in the training and development of personnel involved in healthcare activities. This includes health office faculty and any faculty members authorized to administer any medication, both over the counter and prescription.
  • Ensuring that the health office faculty comply with the federal/state rules, regulations, standards and codes.
  • Assist in reviewing student health care / medical needs to ensure they are being met, including specialty medical plans
  • Prescribe and manage youth medication when needed
  • Ensure appropriate documentation occurs
  • Enhancing cooperation between nurses, physicians and relevant medical institutions with the MPA Health Service Departments' offices.
  • Ensure MPA faculty have 24/7 access to a nurse
  • Provide coverage for health offices when needed, including but not limited to when nurses are unavailable
  • Provide guidance to nurses on health care needs of youth we serve
  • Foster healthy relationships with suppliers as a way of keeping the Health Services offices stocked and in good fiscal standing.
  • Evaluate the coordination of the Health Services team to ensure the success of the Department.
  • Ensure that licenses are up to date, thus preventing the prosecution or termination MPA's ability to provide healthcare to our students.
  • Respond to any grievances and evaluate and diffuse any tension that arises in health services.
  • Assist in additional tasks as directed by the President, Director of Operations, Chief Compliance Officer or Head of Schools

REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND EXPERIENCE
• ARPN, M.D., D.O. or related credentialing.
• Experience supervising and developing staff.
• Experience implementing strategies and systems for personnel management and effective
healthcare practices.
• Strong business acumen and leadership abilities.
• Working knowledge of healthcare laws and other compliance issues.
• Ability to listen and probe to understand underlying needs and/or root cause of an issue.
• Ability to provide thoughtful, progressive and strategic guidance.
• Expertise in analysis, critical decision making, project management, and process improvement.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency in
developing and delivering presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems.
• Ability to identify, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieved desired
organizational outcomes.
• Outstanding judgement, sensitivity and high discretion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR system applications.
• Must have a valid Driver's License, reliable vehicle and proof of auto insurance.
• Must be able to travel to satellite office locations as needed.



PHYSICAL/MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to speak clearly in small group settings.
• This position will require sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, bending, and
walking, as well as using fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity for typing and using small
hand tools.
• This position could be exposed to loud noises, frequent phone conversations, and requires
average to above average visual acuity and hearing.
• The majority of this job will be spent indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
• Must be available to travel to other office locations as needed.
