false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Job Title: Senior Accountant Reports to: Vice President of Accounting FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary Grade: NE20 Supervisory Responsibility: No SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant primary responsible is to prepare and maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a daily and monthly basis. Research and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner. Additionally, completes ad hoc requests to support the requirement of the department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor and/or Trustco Bank’s Board of Directors. Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a daily and monthly basis. Research and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner. Track and analyze non-performing loans on a monthly basis. Provide management with detailed monthly reporting for each non-performing loan. Maintain the Fixed Asset ledger and associated depreciation schedules on the Sage Software system; prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations to ensure the proper recording of new purchases and disposals. Maintain the Prepaid ledger, associated amortization schedules and reconciliations by preparing monthly journal entries to ensure proper amortization and recording of prepaid expenses. Assist in maintaining the Investment ledger through IPS by performing daily and monthly amortization, assisting with investment calls, purchases and sales. Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations to ensure proper recording of investments. Support the timely reporting of key financial information, monitor the performance and quality of activities performed based upon company standards. Ensure the adequate systems and procedures are in place to provide controls, safeguarding of assets and the efficient execution of financial activities. Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliations and reporting of equity, shares outstanding and investment general ledger accounts. Stay abreast of SAP, GAAP, and IRS rules changes as well as other regulations that are applicable to the Bank’s accounting practices. Special projects and reporting requests as assigned. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: · A bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent level of education and experience. · Effective verbal and written communication skills. · Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to time sensitive deadlines. · Ability to work well independently and in groups. · Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs; Excel and Word. PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: · Master’s degree in business related field · 1-2 years’ experience in accounting/finance POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS: This is a full-time position. Office hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. TRAVEL: No travel required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace; bilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
