We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Materials Planner to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the supply chain from supplier to customer, ensuring the right materials are in the right place at the right time. This role is crucial in maintaining production efficiency and meeting our customer delivery commitments. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of materials planning, procurement, and supplier management in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain a materials plan based on production requirements, ensuring the availability of necessary materials to meet production schedules.
2. Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by forecast and the production schedule.
3. Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems.
4. Expedite or defer orders as necessary based on schedule/inventory changes.
5. Determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and material lead times.
6. Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development.
7. Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.
8. Provide analysis and input on supplier performance, and lead supplier improvement initiatives.
9. Collaborate with internal teams like production, quality, and sales to ensure alignment of company objectives.
10. Eliminate part shortages and manage stocking volumes to support production requirements.
11. Maintain accurate information in the company's material planning system.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum 2+ years of experience in Materials Planning, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
2. Strong knowledge of supply chain processes and inventory management.
3. Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
6. Proficiency in using material planning systems, and strong computer literacy especially in MS Excel.
7. Ability to read and understand technical specifications and blueprints is a plus.
8. Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related field is preferred.
