Department Summary

The Everett Hospital Float Pool provides care with an emphasis on culturally sensitive, evidence based nursing practice. While regularly scheduled, the members of the float pool are deployed on a shift by shift to provide nursing care to patients in the Med/Surg/Telemetry and Geriatric Psychiatry units at Everett Hospital.


Job Purpose
The Milieu Counselor is a member of the multidisciplinary team who, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, is responsible for a safe and structured service, as well as attending to the individual needs of patients in crisis in an inpatient psychiatric setting. 

The Milieu Counselor performs safety checks, is assigned groups, interacts 1:1 with patients as needed, and is able to de-escalate aggressive patients.


Qualifications/Experience:
High School graduate or GED required.
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. 

1 year previous mental health experience in a Psych locked unit strongly preferred.

Experience in a Geri-psych unit is highly preferred.
All newly hired candidates must successfully complete a job specific physical agility test.
