Personal Care Attendant (Full Time, Part Time, PRN)

Reports to: Health Care Coordinator (RN) and Day Center Coordinator, Lead Personal Care Attendant

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent/- Preferred Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) or previous experience- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required (will certify on site)
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in working with the frail or elderly population required
  • Skills and Knowledge: Basic knowledge in working with frail and elderly to support Activities of Daily Living (ADL)- Ability to work effectively with culturally, economically, and educationally, diverse populations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists participants and or supervises with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, mouth care, eating, hand and foot nail care and toileting) as assigned or needed.
  • Creates and participates in group(s) and one-on-one activities in accordance with daily activity calendar and as requested by the Director of Activities.
  • Monitors and assists participants with meals at dining table preparing meals.
  • Assists, throughout the day, in maintaining clean and orderly day rooms, kitchen and personal care areas.
  • Accompanies enrollee, who do not require hands on assistance, to medical and other appointments. Performs and or assists with laundry, including clothes for participants.
  • Assists the Drivers with the loading and unloading of participants from vehicles. Travels with Drivers to act as an escort for participants as needed.
  • Notes changes in participant’s physical or emotional health and communicates this information to the appropriate staff person.
  • Assists the Transportation Department with participants’ takes home supplies.
