Who You Are

We’re looking for an Equipment Operator to join our team! The Equipment Operator serves as a representative of Welborn in creating a continuous working relationship with clients/customers. This is a full-time role assisting with projects and sites. Responsibilities include performing routine equipment checks and maintenance, loading and unloading equipment, and ensuring sites are kept clean and equipment is safely turned off and stored. To be successful in this role, you should consistently follow health and safety regulations and be able to work in a team environment. Outstanding equipment operators should display great hand and foot coordination and always be thinking of ways to improve efficiency.


Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment in a safe and productive manner
  • May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment
  • Completes daily checklist as required for proper operation of the unit being operated
  • Assures unit is never operated in an unsafe manner or in a manner which is inconsistent with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Completes and submits all associated paperwork as required
  • Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules
  • Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform regular safety checks on equipment
  • Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and off, or loading and unloading it
  • Ensure sites are kept clean and safe
  • Identify faults and troubleshooting equipment as required
  • Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure it’s in good working order
  • Drive or control heavy equipment to complete tasks at the site
  • Monitor performance and adjust settings as required to perform tasks correctly
  • Complete minor repair work as needed
  • Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires
  • Operates various equipment for general site preparation
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment


Requirements:
  • Periods of standing, walking, stooping and bending
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Must be mechanical-minded
  • Prior experience operating equipment
  • Perform physical functions per job requirements
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of loaders, bulldozers and other small utility equipment
  • Relevant license and safety certification
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Expected to operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
  • Physical activity. Requires physical work; lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects under 50 pounds
  • Hand and foot coordination
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to make decisions that prevent accidents and damage to property
