WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Automation Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting machinery malfunctions, isolating the problems and applying solutions that will minimize downtime and maximize production. The ideal candidate will be working with an engineer or supervisor to make modifications, followed up with testing for system performance and stability.

  • Responsible for answering trouble calls to maintain maximum uptime for all packaging equipment
  • Responsible for the design and test of system prototypes based on the engineer’s design
  • Responsible for reviewing manuals and following diagrams to isolate and repair problems on machinery
  • Maintains cue track documentation and participates in cue track rotation
  • Responsible for troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic processes of both automation and manual equipment in order to support production needs
  • Inspects and maintains electronic, hydraulic and motorized equipment and systems
  • Controls machines and processes by using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
  • Responsible for updating maintenance and inspection records and following up with the Shift Manager
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by conforming to all established safety policies and procedures
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of automation department equipment specific to the production in order to operate it safely
  • Use drawings, sketches, specs, charts and tables to locate machinery in order to determine requirements, machine movement requirements and identify spare and repair parts
  • Determine preventative maintenance schedules and machine capabilities to optimize them
  • Identify issues and react appropriately, including bringing long-term downtime or urgent quality issues to the Shift Manager.
  • Work independently to perform minor equipment improvement on projects to reduce downtime, improve quality and reduce overall costs for the operation of the equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining a record of worked performed on different components
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to use a Multi-meter, Oscilloscope and other test equipment
  • Must have excellent mechanical skills, also able to read and follow wiring diagrams
  • Must have experience with PLC programming or knowledge of the systems. (Panel View Builder, RS Logics, RS Links, Colors)
  • Must be able to communicate with supervisors and managers, and others co-workers
  • Must be able to rebuild or replace Boards or PLC’s in a safe and timely manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with proven skills in mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting
  • Prefer the candidate to be bilingual English/Spanish

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in all types of environments such as but not limited to; small, high, or wet conditions
  • Must be able to see the varies colors of wires
  • Environmental exposure- cold/wet conditions (40 °ree; or below)
  • Material exposure-moving mechanical parts
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and vibrations
