Job Description
NEW DHC- Vessel Manager

We are looking for a Vessel Manager to manage our fleet of vessels. The primary function of this position is to maintain working production availability of the fleet, participate and manage the operational and capital budgeting for the fleet and carrying out maintenance programs to reduce downtime, safety and increase productivity.

To be a successful Vessel Manager, you should have a strong aptitude for maritime knowledge. You should possess excellent project management skills and the ability to supervise all aspects of maritime vessel requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the fleet of vessels in fast-paced day-to-day operations.
  • Serve as primary liaison between vessel operations and senior management, communicating on the vessel’s operational productivity.
  • Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with all vessel employees.
  • Assure vessel compliance with all governmental regulations and company policies.
  • Respond to vessels emergencies minimizing vessel down time, providing onsite supervision and direction.
  • Receive requests from the fleet for various actions to keep the fleet operational, working with internal and external groups to schedule these activities.
  • Manage requests and enter in requests for purchase orders with suppliers.
  • Make frequent on-board vessel inspections and ensure that vessels are operationally equipped.
  • Administer company policies including disciplinary action and conducting performance evaluations, in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Ensure vessels are operating within operating and capital budget.
  • Comply with the Safety Management System in support of continuous improvement and management objectives.
  • Investigate incidents and injuries and provide recommendations for their prevention, in coordination with our Health and Safety Department.
  • Ensure employees report all hazards, accidents, injuries, or environmental excursions to their supervisor or a member of the management team immediately.
  • Preparing technical reports such as research, systems diagnostics, and design analysis documentation.
  • Develop annual repair and maintenance plan.
  • Oversee all functions and repairs concerning all mechanical applications on vessels (electrical, refrigeration, engines, piping, and hydraulic systems)

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel to vessels as needed. (Must have a valid driver’s license.)
  • Familiar in regulatory requirements and vessel inspections.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
