General Job Description:

Works under the direction of a foreman, must be able to count, read, match numbers, have basic
computer skills, be able to operate simple machinery and drive a forklift. The position requires the ability to communicate and work closely and efficiently with others in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment. Pipe Puller organizes, sorts, checks for inaccuracies and delivers new and used pipe associated and purchased per each customer's requirements and AML (approved manufacturers list); delivers pipe to production, stages the pipe and organizes in the shop so it can be located in a timely manner.

Functional Requirements:

  • Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting of shift
  • Stores, removes, loads, and unloads all types of pipe from storage bins, pallets and vehicles that cannot be handled by material handling devices
  • Operates manual or mechanical devices and stocks inventory shelves
  • Reads customer order, work order, material pull sheets, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, or color
  • Moves pipe and supplies from the materials warehouse and prepares for delivery
  • Fills requisitions, work orders or requests for pipe, tools, or stock items; records material items received or distributed
  • May maintain inventory records
  • Performs additional assignments as required
  • Always maintains a clean and safe work environment

Qualification Standards:

  • Preferably one (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill preferred
  • Pre-employment/post-employment qualification test.
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  • Turner Industries Group/Job site orientation/Hazard Communication and required tests.
  • Job site "Personal Protective Equipment" requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses - OSHA approved Z87 if applicable, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.

Mental Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.

  • Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: Uneven ground level; obstructed pathways
  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: Indoor/outdoor climate; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.
