SCOPE OF JOB

Assembles parts, components and systems according to engineering specifications. Tests parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances. Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and communicates failure to appropriate personnel.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Assemble various components and systems
  • Interpret technical documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.
  • Assemble and install subassemblies on harvesters, sweepers and other products
  • Installation of engine, hydraulic, air filter, air conditioning and electrical systems
  • Use manual, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools to bolt rubber parts to metal, bolt metal parts to metal, install rings in belting, assemble various system components
  • Perform gas/fluid testing and troubleshooting of systems
  • Assess and complete tasks by following guidelines within the Company Code of Safe Practices
  • Wash and polish completed units to prepare for shipment
  • Required to observe factory work schedules by being on time, in your work area ready to work and remaining on task throughout the workday
  • Must work well with others as a team
  • Required to work Overtime in excess of 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and Saturday per the factory production schedule

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Requires knowledge and skills normally acquired through the successful completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in a manufacturing environment with practical assembly experience.

Associates Degree, Vocational Instruction or Certification in mechanical assembly or related field a plus.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Verbal, reading, writing and arithmetic skills. Good mechanical aptitude, and the ability to follow instructions. Must be able to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings. Able to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Analytical skills to recognize incorrect information based on pre-defined requirements. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Ability to accurately communicate errors to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Ability for critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Willingness to learn new tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Cognitive skills to move from one task to another, attend to numerical detail, manage time appropriately, reason, process and interpret information. Cognitive skills for information processing, and interpretation, numerical and verbal intelligence. Visual acuity to inspect product, interpret written data, maintain accurate records, and respond to direction, plant floor traffic and emergency warnings. Speaking and hearing skills in order to converse verbally, by telephone and in person.

Use of hands for simple and firm grasping, repetitive motion, fine and gross manipulation to reach and handle equipment. Ability to stand for extended periods of time during the shift. Ability to walk about the manufacturing area. Able to bend, stretch, twist, stoop or reach with your body, arms and/or legs in order to install, position and move materials. Ability to lift using appropriate biomechanical techniques during an eight to ten-hour day. Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without “giving out” or fatiguing. Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds, level lift up to 13 pounds and lift overhead up to 10 pounds. Must be able to frequently push or pull up to 50 pounds. Additional physical requirements are described on the attached matrix. Activities when assembling harvesting equipment include crawling inside of, on top of, or underneath a piece of harvesting equipment to assemble. Use of a creeper as needed when working underneath harvesting equipment. Able to be appropriately positioned in a self-propelled machine to operate controls, turn and twist to view surrounding environment in a safe manner.
