POSITION DESCRIPTION

I. TITLE OF POSITION: Clinical Assistant Lead

II. NATURE OF POSITION: The Clinical Assistant Lead will be instrumental in assisting the

Clinical Lead in the day to day operations of the clinic operation as it pertains to the medical

support role and patient care. This position will demonstrate strong clinical skills and expertise

of all relevant systems and processes. They will be expected to model, train, and promote high

functioning clinical support staff from all experience levels. Also, the lead acts as a liaison

between management and staff. The Clinical Assistant Lead will provide first level counseling to

staff. Keeps Clinical Lead informed of early personnel issues.

III. QUALIFICATIONS:

A. High School diploma or equivalent. College Education or completion of a medical

assistant training a plus but not required.

B. A competent Clinical Assistant that demonstrates skills and knowledge as set forth on the

competency checklist.

C. Intermediate or advanced computer skills, including knowledge of relevant EMR

systems.

D. Commitment to continuous learning in both personal and professional development.

E. Personal maturity, cooperation, ability to communicate clearly.

V. RESPONSIBLE TO: Clinical Lead

VI. RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Provide back up support for the clinical assistant team, which includes all functions of a

medical assistant, providing a model of positive, compassionate care for our patients and

service for our providers.

B. Assist in the supervision of work and performance of clinical assistant staff including

input for performance reviews and corrective action plans as needed.

C. Oversee and train new and existing staff along with Clinic Lead and Education Nurse.

D. Perform chart audits to identify areas of improvement for clinical assistant staff. This

information will be provided to the Clinic Lead for evaluations, work flow development

and quality monitoring.

E. Periodically checks the waiting area to ensure that all patients have been registered and

are being served in a timely manner and are not in acute distress. Acts as liaison between

patients and staff in maintaining smooth patient flow.

F. Participates in meetings.

G. Exhibits awareness of cultural factors and shows competence in reducing barriers to the

provisions of health care services.

H. Works collaboratively with clinic staff on programs to improve patient outcomes. Assists

in organizing and participating in quality improvement activities.

I. Upholds and abides by patient confidentiality policies and procedures

J. Actively participates in agency-sponsored staff training events (safety instruction,

evacuation drills, OSHA training, etc.)

K. Assures and maintains patient confidentiality in the front desk and check out areas.

L. Assists with other administrative projects and tasks as needed.

M. Monitors supplies. Submit purchase orders as needed to purchasing agent.

N. Required alteration of standing, sitting, walking, bending and lifting throughout the day.
