Position Summary:

The Course Superintendent will be responsible for the Club's 18-hole golf course. The responsibilities of the Course Superintendent include the maintenance, operation, management, preparation, improvements, and conditions of the golf course and club grounds. The Course Superintendent will fulfill these responsibilities as a hands-on leader through positive and effective leadership by leading, developing, training, managing, overseeing, coaching, and motivating the golf course team.

Career Trajectory:

Under the mentorship of the Director of Agronomy and the Superintendent, the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent would learn about the Club, its cultural practices, the maintenance team, membership, and overall operations and be ready to assume the Superintendent role when the current superintendent moves into the Director of Agronomy position when he retires.

Responsibilities Include:

· Leading the team in delegating and assigning daily assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching and assistance and ensuring work is completed as expected and in a timely manner.

· Collaborating with the Superintendent in developing the agronomic plan and budget for the course and leading in the implementation and oversight of the agronomic plan and budget.

· Identifying, evaluating and recommending corrective action for agronomic problem areas, including disease, pest and drainage issues.

· Leading, overseeing and assisting in the daily set-up and maintenance of the golf course, including routine golf course maintenance, chemical applications and equipment operations.

· Inspecting irrigation systems and, identifying issues and implementing corrective action.

· Recommending, evaluating, planning and leading long-term and short-term projects related to renovations, repairs and care and maintenance of the course.

· Assisting in the training of new and existing staff in golf course set-up and maintenance, equipment operations, safety procedures and the expectations of the Club.

· Educating and ensuring the team is aware of and following safe work practices and maintenance facilities and equipment are safe, clean and organized.

Qualifications (Skills, Abilities and Knowledge):

· A comprehensive knowledge of turf and golf course maintenance.

· Experience in leading teams or having the experience that prepared you for this leadership position.

· The ability to operate basic landscape equipment.

· Knowledge of irrigation systems and repair.

· An active Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain one.

· A Certificate, Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Turf Management or related experience.
