Alta Science & Engineering, Inc. seeks qualified candidates for an entry-level Project Engineer position based out of any of Alta’s offices (Moscow, Kellogg or Boise, Idaho). The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized, personable, and detail oriented who can work well on a team and independently.  This is a Regular Full-Time (40 hrs/wk) benefited position.

 

Potential Projects:

  • Superfund site remediation design for city parks, schools and other recreational sites.
  • Design of hazardous materials repositories that blend in with surrounding landscapes.
  • Evaluation of water treatment options for contaminated sites.
  • Studies to delineate extent of contamination at Superfund or Brownfields sites.

 

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Contribute to the engineering team with planning, pre-design, and design of various remediation projects related to CERCLA, Brownfields, and abandon mine lands sites.
  • Prepare project deliverables such as technical reports, design documents, and bid packages.
  • Perform independent design activities for slope stabilization, cover material infiltration and waste leaching.
  • Prepare drawings, details, layouts, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates and review similar work by peers.
  • Provide construction support and oversight including contract administration, inspection, submittal review of designs by others for conformance to design standards.
  • Perform job functions under immediate supervision of Professional Engineer to provide needed experience to be eligible for professional licensure.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism during interactions with Alta staff, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple project deadlines and prioritize work on various projects simultaneously.
  • Provide timely communication with supervisor regarding work-related matters.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil, environmental, or other relevant engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and hold an Engineering Intern or Engineer-in-Training certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)
  • Have 0 – 5 years of related engineering experience
  • Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including technical writing
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience drafting civil projects in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with laboratory data and determining remediation limits.
  • Prior work experience in civil, structural, or environmental consulting, including internships

Salary Range
$60,000 - $80,000 per year (Depending on experience)
