Job Title: Laundry Attendant /Housekeeper

Department: Housekeeping

Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary


Laundry Attendant performs multiple tasks ranging from washing and folding laundry items to operating commercial laundry and cleaning equipment. General cleaning and upkeep of residents living areas, public space and offices by performing the following duties.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Teamwork with the following and all other duties and responsibilities assigned.

1.Sorting linens, towels, clothing and other laundry items by color, size, and material.

2. Delivery and labeling of washed items to resident rooms and stocking linen carts.


3. Washing items with commercial laundry equipment following proper sanitization protocols.


4. Cleaning and maintaining laundry room area and equipment.


5. Stocking laundry supplies such as detergent, bleach, laundry bags and fabric softener.


Other Responsibilities

1. Adjusts work in progress when priority projects change.

2. Provides Quality Assurance by maintaining daily schedules.


3. Performs general cleaning of resident’s apartments, room turnovers, hard floor surfaces, carpeted areas, building entrances, public-space, dining rooms, and staff work areas.


4. Performs project work such as stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction, spring cleaning and terminal cleaning.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Related experience in Housekeeping preferred. Complete annual state mandated training requirements (Regular In-services as well as any external training).

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, and maintenance instructions, relating to housekeeping functions.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common numbers, and decimals to calculate cleaning solution formulas and manage time.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to assess and solve practical problems.


Medical Screenings

Tuberculosis screening is required annually.


Other Skills and Abilities

Skills in communicating with geriatric residents and with employees at all levels of the organization are required.
