You know those props used to make billboards stand out (i.e. life-size trucks or giant crawfish)? Lamar Advertising's Graphics plant in Baton Rouge, LA is now hiring a new 3D Technician to help bring these to life! The purpose of this position is to assist the Senior 3D Technician(s) by operating two expanded polystyrene (EPS) (CNC) cutting and finish-coating machines. The 3D Technician works with the 3D Senior Technicians and at the direction of the Operations Mgr.

  • Ability to perform effectively under fluctuating workloads.
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments and directions.
  • Critical eye for color and depth perception.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 1 year of operating CNC cutting and finish-coating machines preferred
  • 1 year of painting or auto body experience preferred
  • 1-2 years of Printing or Graphics Experience preferred
  • Or some equivalent combination of education and experience

A day in the life:

  • The 3D Technician supports the Senior Technician(s) by painting and airbrushing completed 3D props.
  • Receive orders using Lamar’s production control systems, and schedule orders.
  • Performing routine service and maintenance on the cutting mills
  • Loading/unloading blocks of EPS, and sheets of coroplast based on shipping priorities
  • Assuring size and shape correctness of EPS
  • Materials handling such as safely operating forklifts, hoists, and finishing equipment.
  • Cleaning and shaping finished material and preparing for coating
  • The technician needs to work and understand the software used on the finishing machinery
  • Inventory management: completing log sheets to record material usage
  • Responsible for constructing digital backlit logos
  • General housekeeping duties and ensuring a safe work area

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The primary work environment is a shop.
  • The physical demands include moderate lifting (up to 75 pounds), pushing, reaching, seeing (with a focus in reading, color distinction, acuity, depth perception, and peripheral
  • vision), sitting less than 50% of the time, standing, stooping, talking, turning, walking, and climbing.
  • Nights spent traveling for this position are less than 10%.
