What You'll Do:

· The Adolescent Health Educator provides comprehensive risk-reduction services to adolescents under two grant programs: Health Resource Center (HRC) and Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP).

· Under HRC programming responsibilities include the provision of evidence-informed and age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health education in one-to-one and group settings and targeted rapid HIV testing and STI testing and treatment for adolescents aged 13-19.

· Under PREP programming responsibilities include the provision of two evidence-based curricula with groups of adolescents aged 11-21 in a clinic, school, or community-based setting.

· Distribute risk reduction tools and provide age-appropriate, accurate, and non-judgmental information about all contraceptive methods available.

· Provide teen-friendly and culturally responsive referrals to adolescents seeking additional medical, social services, or mental health care.

· Attend health fairs, community events, and other relevant outreach activities on behalf of the program.

· Coordinate the program’s Youth Advisory Board.

· Maintain compliance with paperwork and reporting requirements as dictated by program funding organizations and other regulatory bodies.

· Enter all required documentation electronically in the appropriate database in an efficient and accurate manner.

· Work collaboratively alongside clinical team to ensure a patient-centered approach to improving health outcomes.

· Complete and maintain continuing education credits as required by program regulations.

Requirements:

· Healthcare Knowledge: A fundamental understanding of healthcare services and basic medical terminology.

· Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and intentionally in front of an audience.

· Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in basic data entry computer skills and the ability to learn new software or databases specific to role.

· Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

· Cultural Humility: Awareness of one’s own world view and understanding that different world views exist, and cultural knowledge of key populations that will be served to address disparities in services and care.

· Team Player: An industrious and cooperative nature to foster harmonious working relationships with clinic management, physicians, clinicians, and the public.

· Medical Assistant Certificate: Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certificate required.

· Valid Driver’s License: Ability to regularly travel from 17th Street location to various sites throughout the community.


Preferred Qualifications:

· Licensed Practical Nurse: LPN credentials preferred.

· Two (2) years working experience providing services to adolescents in a health care or equivalent setting.

· Knowledge of sexually transmitted infections and comfortability educating groups about infectious diseases and related topics.

· Knowledge of community resources in Harrisburg City and surrounding areas.

· Bi-lingual in Spanish
