Manpower is hiring for a Sr. Accountant to work within the public sector.
What’s in it for you:
- Located in Orange, CA
- Pay Rate: $43.00 - $51.66/hr. DOE.
- Monday – Friday: 8am – 5pm
- Duration: 6-month assignment (could be extended)
- Serves as liaison with the agency's custodial bank and monitors contract compliance.
- Reviews, monitors, and records bank transactions. Ensures proper controls related to banking activities to prevent fraud. Manages the online banking and electronic deposit systems.
- Prepares payments as required by the Renewed Measure M Ordinance.
- Prepares various reports including the state controller and national transit database reports in accordance with established guidelines and ensures compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Prepares Local Transportation Fund (LTF) and State Transit Assistance Fund (STAF) annual claim.
- Coordinates and assists in the communication of information to internal auditors, external auditors, and other regulatory agencies. Responds to auditor's questions and requests for additional information.
- Understands and applies Governmental fund accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for Government (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board Statements (GASB), and audit methods and practices.
- Performs effective oral and written communications skills.
- Understands automated financial systems.
- Utilizes Microsoft Office suite software including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Understands bonds, interfund, Claims, and Revenue.
- Exercises discretion in the use of confidential information
- Solves Problems & Analyzes Issues: Has and applies problem analysis and problem-solving skills on a technical and interpersonal level.
- Prepares account and project reconciliations to ensure that account activities are accurately recorded in the General Ledger. Utilize analytical skills to research and resolve variances.
- Reports and resolves any differences among the following: Treasury, Investment Manager, custodian bank, bank records, and accounting records.
- Reviews and analyzes general ledger data to ensure accuracy and integrity of information.
- Prepares various journal entries to properly reflect activity in the General Ledger. Utilizes analytical and accounting skills to determine journal entries needed.
- Assists in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of employees.
- Performs month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Provides guidance and direction to other personnel.
Qualifications:
- Degree in either Accounting or Business Administration with experience in Account Receivable and auditing.
- MS Applications and Accounting Software
Understands and applies Governmental fund accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for Government (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board Statements (GASB), and audit methods and practices.
