PROJECT ENGINEER JOB SUMMARY

Ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule. New hire will be assigned to active projects that include construction of civil infrastructure (canalization, ditches, manholes, small foundations, etc.), fiber and electrical installations, and installation and commissioning of ITS equipment (CCTV, radio, communications, etc.).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist project managers and superintendents in all aspects of the construction process..
  • Provide technical support for construction effort including participation in construction planning and design; interpretation of design; application of construction methods; resolution and documentation of design conflicts; constructability reviews, shop drawing processing etc.
  • Read and understand project documents such as plans and specs
  • Ensure quality of construction.
  • Manage project engineering and related personnel functions and activities. This includes subcontractor planning and administration, work assignments, testing activities, and maintaining daily production logs updated.
  • Represent company, project and/or department during client and project management meetings.
  • Interface all on-site departments as required to resolve problems.
  • Develop, implement and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS

  • This position requires jobsite visits such as on and around roadways, under bridges, and in active construction zones.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 4 year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and related experience.
  • AS or BS in Engineering, Construction Management or Environmental Science preferred

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 1-3 years similar construction engineering experience, 3-5 years preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Experience with electronics/computers/networking.
  • Excellent computer skills (CAD, MS PROJECT, EXCEL, WORD, etc).
  • Experience with state Department of Transportation Experience is a plus

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Engineering Degree.
  • Proficient computer/office skills (EXCEL, WORD, etc).
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test
  • Must demonstrate eligibility to work in U.S.
  • Possession of a valid Florida driver's license is a requirement for this job.
