Core Responsibilities

  1. Providing administrative support to the production team
  2. Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records
  3. Reviews, processes, approves, request, and pay for roofing permits; and performs other related duties as required.

Role and Responsibilities

The primary role will be supporting the President of Minnesota with composing and editing emails, keeping accurate records, some accounting and data entry, along with meeting and calendar management. The role includes the following:

  • Receives roofing contract and applies for all permits required.
  • Checks accuracy and completeness of information contained in applications.
  • Occasionally, you may be required to perform minor accounting duties and data entry tasks. This could include entering financial data, reconciling invoices, or updating spreadsheets.
  • Provides information to contractors, engineers, architects, and the homeowner concerning department policies and procedures when applying for building permits.
  • Ability and willingness to meet the needs of different permitting entities, while considering the cost and needs of the customer
  • Provides information to the public concerning building code requirements pertaining to permit processing.
  • Conducts full cycle duties for building permits and fees from application, plan review, scheduling, and contacting customers, to the issuance of the permit. Utilizes the appropriate software system for tracking and maintaining systems.
  • Determines eligibility for and issues permits.
  • Enters permit information into JobNimbus.
  • Perform independently with minimal supervision.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience in permit clerk role preferred
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Attention to detail; organizational skills; time management skills required.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Must work well both independently and as a team.
  • Self-starter with proven ability to exceed goals.
  • Willingness to learn additional skills required.
  • Knowledge of building permits and inspection processes, procedures and timelines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and JobNimbus.

Physical Requirements

  • Employees in this role must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day.
  • This person must be able to carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work on a computer and stare at a monitor screen for long periods of time.
