GENERAL STATEMENT OF POSITION:

Under general supervision, aides in the personal care and protection of the residents in Assisted Living & Memory Care.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Know and understand the vision, purpose, values, and goals of Amber Grove Place.
  • Responsible to provide “5 star” customer service to all customers whether in person, via computer, or on the phone.
  • Know and understand the principles of Amber Grove Place, including concepts such as the “GRIT" philosophy and the service standards that are integrated into our everyday work culture.
  • Cares for residents in the community adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
  • Be actively involved in providing “5 star” customer service using the “GRIT” philosophy and other tools to do so.
  • Helps with resident care to include:
  • cleaning and bathing.
  • personal hygiene, grooming.
  • dressing.
  • bed making, and light housekeeping.
  • blood pressure checks, and weights.
  • Helps with ambulation and transfers.
  • escorting to activities and other functions.
  • Report and communicate unusual symptoms and or resident behaviors/problems to supervisors.
  • Monitor the emergency call system for emergency calls and respond appropriately.
  • Works with the dining staff and provide general assistance with resident meals and clean-up; may set tables, serve meals, clear tables, and straighten dining room.
  • Maintain daily chart notes and medication records.
  • Assists with emergencies to include fire drills, elopements, etc.
  • Answers telephones using Amber Grove Place telephone techniques and assists visitors in an assertively friendly manner during hours administration is not present.
  • Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with the community safety program.
  • Provides effective and courteous service to all residents, guests, and co-workers.
  • Attend all in-service training workshops, seminars, and meetings.
  • Promotes and protects the rights of all residents.
  • Performs other related essential duties as assigned and requested.
  • Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, maintain confidentiality of restricted information and to follow instructions.
  • Keep all information about residents & staff confidential per HIPPA guidelines.
  • Follow written policies and procedures pertaining to resident rights as well as residential abuse and mandatory reporting procedure.
Requirements:

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, GED and or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years caregiving experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of medication tech experience.
  • Medication Tech Certification Preferred.

CERTIFICATION AND CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Must have health screening and Tuberculosis (TB) and or Chest X-Ray (CXR) clearance.
  • Must receive criminal records clearance from the Department of Justice and FBI.
  • Must have illegal drug clearance.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Policies, procedures, methods, and practices of the community.
  • Understanding of Medical terminology.
  • Methods and procedures involved in handling emergency situations.
  • Use of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Medication dispensed to residents per doctor's orders.
  • Supervisory methods and techniques.
  • Records, graphs, reports, etc. used in the daily performance of duties.
  • Principles and practices of nursing care.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate automated office machines like computers, calculators, telephones, and copier.
  • Ability to operate and use a variety of health care equipment and tools including stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, glucometer, oxygen, otoscope, emergency, and disaster equipment.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of clerical, secretarial, medical and computer supplies.
  • Must be physically able to exert considerable force occasionally to assist residents who have fallen and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to physically support and or assist residents with transfers and positioning.
  • Ability to recognize and differentiate colors, sounds, textures, odors, and forms.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, squat, and lift 10lbs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ability to assign, review, plan, and coordinate the work of other employees.
  • Ability to provide instruction to other employees.
  • Ability to communicate the needs for additional training of other employees and caregiving staff to supervisor.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in supervising activities of daily living, handling difficult situations, and maintaining standards.

Language, Interpersonal Communication and Environmental Adaptability:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and families, clients, physicians, nurses, staff, resident assistants, supervisor, and client representatives, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, speak and understand English sufficiently to follow directions and communicate with supervisor, co-workers, and residents.
  • Have ability to work effectively in a community environment.
