Job Description
The Rehabilitation Specialist in the Deaf Program is an integral position of Arundel Lodge that creates the culture and quality of life that is experienced by the members of Arundel Lodge. The day-to day job responsibilities of a Rehabilitation Specialist include tasks like transportation, assisting with money management, making appointments, diet coaching, shopping, cleaning, assistance with ADL's, and teaching life skills, BUT the most critical thing that a Rehabilitation Specialist does at Arundel Lodge is to assist people in their journey of recovery from mental illness, physical illness, and substance abuse.
- Must be fluent in American Sign Language.
- Requires HS/GED, prefer Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field, one-year experience working in the mental health/psychosocial rehabilitation field, or acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
- Rehabilitation Specialists are expected to practice the Recovery Model in all interactions with members.
- The Recovery Model emphasizes hope, member responsibility, peer support, respect, empathy, non-stigmatizing language, empowerment, using members' strengths, and self-determination.
