SUMMARY:

The Maintenance/Engineering Manager supports the day-to-day Operations. Leads a team of mechanics to ensure that our CMMS is being fully utilized, along with Preventive and Predictive maintenance. In this position, you will also play a key role in the overall success of our organization by planning, managing, and working with the Corporate Engineering Department. You will be responsible for overseeing various engineering projects, processes, budgets, and timelines while making necessary adjustments to ensure successful completions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive a culture within the department and plant of Culture>Safety>Quality>Production in that priority order.
  • Provide direct supervision, technical direction, administrative management, and maintenance leadership.
  • Management of equipment and maintenance team.
  • Monitor all Maintenance costs and be able to track variances.
  • Helps create and manage capital projects, while working closely with the corporate engineering department.
  • Determine schedules and assignments for work activities, based on work priority.
  • Counsel employees about work related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies. Coaching and development of training plans for hourly maintenance employees.
  • Interview and recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and terminating as needed.
  • Responsible for tracking KPI’s.
  • Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews for your staff.
  • Assist with site capital planning and spending to both reduce businesses and safety risk and improve cost and profitability.
  • Provide support for the facility and equipment needs including capital and major repairs.
  • Support preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Support plant environmental safety programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Using other maintenance disciplines in the development and application of root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes.
  • Must follow all GMPs, SOPs and maintain a current understanding of the regulation and requirements of the industry and applicable government agencies; including but not limited to: Cal-Osha, CARB, and State Health Department.
  • Active Member of the Crisis Management team for facilities and Food Safety Teams.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering preferred or other technical field acceptable.
  • Four years of managerial experience in manufacturing environment, or 8 years equivalent experience without a degree
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, HVAC skills, fabricating, TIG and MIG welding
  • Demonstrated knowledge of motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, programmable controllers, and motor control electrical trouble shooting skills
  • Read and understand P&ID’s, process flow diagrams, cause, and effect matrices
  • Advanced electrical control wiring knowledge a plus
  • Preference for candidates with expertise in mechanical or electrical engineering systems within a manufacturing/production facility
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others orally or in writing
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures
  • Ability to organize and direct oneself and effectively supervise others
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
