Systems Administrator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced System Administrator to join our team in Manlius, NY.

Position Overview:

As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing the organization's computer systems, networks, and infrastructure. Your primary focus will be addressing employee IT requests, with an emphasis on ensuring the efficient operation of our IT environment, optimizing performance, and implementing necessary security measures. This role will have significant person to person contact and one on one assistance through phone and Teams.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in VMware, Azure AD, networking, switch and router programming, on-prem AD, CommVault, data, network, and user security, as well as disaster recovery.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administer a Windows Server environment through Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.
  • Administer Microsoft cloud environments including Office 365.
  • Administer Microsoft licensing for end users and ensure license counts match employee counts.
  • Provision, monitor, and maintain physical and virtual server environments.
  • Provision desktops and laptops and support local users.
  • Ensure the security of company data and systems through the hardening of systems following industry best practices.
  • Ensure the reliable backup of critical company data
  • Build, harden, patch, and maintain Microsoft windows servers
  • Support of Microsoft email systems (Office 365 & on-premises Exchange).

Essential Skills:

  • Intrinsic desire to learn and apply new concepts and technology to work.
  • Have a basic understanding of MS-SQL database in a clustered environment.
  • Understand existing technologies and new technology trends.
  • Strong security experience & principals.
  • Support regulatory compliance objectives (HIPAA & PCI).
  • Ability to create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Ability to work with all levels of IT staff inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with relevant technology.
  • Proven experience as System Analyst, Help Desk Specialist or System Administrator with expertise in VMware, Azure AD, networking, switch and router programming, on-prem AD, CommVault, data, network, and user security, as well as disaster recovery.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, specifically VMware vSphere/vCenter.
  • Proficiency in managing Azure AD, including user provisioning, access controls, and identity management.
  • In-depth understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and architectures, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Hands-on experience with switch and router programming, including Cisco IOS & Meraki IOS.
  • Familiarity with on-premises Active Directory (AD) administration, group policies, and security permissions.
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions, particularly CommVault or similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of data, network, and user security best practices and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
