Job Description

Job Description

This leadership director will spend most of their time at Bear Creek Aquatic Camp overseeing the Counselors-in-Training (CIT) sessions/programming while traveling with CITs to Camp Pennyroyal for one session. Both camps are traditional overnight summer camps owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana. Camp Pennyroyal has its own spring fed lake and high ropes course. Bear Creek Aquatic Camp is located on Kentucky Lake, hosting a variety of water sports and primitive camping excursions. Our camps typically host programs for girls in grades 1 -12 with up to 80 campers and adult volunteers. The CIT Director will work with the Camp Director to instruct and delegate the Counselor-in-Training curriculum. The CIT 1 and 2 programs are leadership based and meant to build the skills of future staff. When not working with CITs, this position will assist with delivery of daily programming in the areas of life skills, team building, leadership skills, aquatics, arts, and more. They will also work with teams of 2-3 counselors and unit leaders that oversee a unit typically comprised of 4-24 campers to ensure leadership programing is being delivered. The CIT Director will sleep in a unit, help cover breaks and assist with the unit as needed while also observing, evaluating, and training unit staff members, when necessary. The ideal candidate will be genuinely invested in the development of our campers and how we can best empower them.
