Summary


The Environmental Health & Safety Technician is responsible for actively creating and promoting a safe work culture and environment in a way that engages people in a positive manner in order to achieve our vision of an injury-free workplace.


Essential Job Duties


  • Responsible for the adherence to site-specific environmental health and safety programs and ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory agency
  • Audits site location against company EHS policies and standards as needed, reports and works to address the observed gaps.
  • Leads the site safety committee and presents sound solutions for raised safety concerns.
  • Administers new hire safety training as well as ongoing employee safety training program.
  • Administers the site's workplace hazard / near miss reporting system and works with the site's team to ensure adequate and timely closure.
  • Identifies safety risks and collaborates with the management team to devise recommendations or improvements to effectively mitigate risks.
  • Creates and completes documents such as inspections, pre-job hazard analysis, job hazard analysis, LOTO Procedures, confined space permitting, toolbox talks, and other safe work instructions.
  • Leads accident/incident investigations, manages root cause and corrective actions, and completes "Lessons from Incident."
  • Maintains environmental compliance records and permits.
  • Prepares all applicable environmental reports for submission as required by Federal and state entities, including EPCRA, air emissions, hazardous waste, and stormwater pollution prevention planning.
  • Interface with State and Federal environmental and safety entities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)


  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (5) years of environmental, health & safety experience in a manufacturing work environment.
  • Basic understanding of compliance with regulations from the Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • Associate's or bachelor's in safety, industrial hygiene, or related field is preferred.

Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.


  • Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors with exposure to wide temperature variations, noise, odors, and dust. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required for each site or job task.

  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
