In-Home Direct Support Professional

$500 potential sign on bonus Alleghany Highlands Community Services provides services and support to individuals in our community with behavioral health challenges and intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Residential Direct Support Professional (RDSP) provides services to children and adults with developmental disabilities with in-home residential services, in-home respite services, and out-of-home respite services. The RDSP uses a variety of teaching techniques and strategies designed to facilitate independence and skills acquisition. REQUIREMENTS HS diploma or GED (required) 2 years of similar experience (preferred) Certification in CPR, basic First Aid, and medication administration (required but can be obtained upon hire) Valid driver's license and meet requirements of motor vehicle check, drug/alcohol testing and child abuse/neglect with the Va. Dept. of Social Services (required) RESPONSIBILITIES Providers will work with individuals having intellectual disabilities. Work will be in their homes. Assist, supervises, monitors and /or trains the consumers in personal care skills, homemaking and home care skills using both informal and formal training through general upkeep, maintenance, meal preparation, cooking, laundry, shopping and grocery list preparation Develop, implement and supervises community integration and acceptance while promoting independence. Applicant must possess the ability to work with individuals who require considerable assistance in activities of daily living. Schedule is primarily Daylight, Monday - Friday.
