Job Requirements:

Must have a minimum set of hand tools as specified by the Company. Previous experience must include a minimum of 5 years as a millwright. Job includes but is not limited to repair of conveyor belts, bucket elevators, crushers, ball mills, screens, pumps, etc. Experience in industrial construction and/or repair may count. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and equipment instructions. Must be able to weld with enough proficiency to pass a company welding test in both electrical arc and oxygen/acetylene welding and understand the safe handling of welding equipment. Must be able to determine what type of rod to use on different types of steel and cast iron. Must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of safety in the maintenance field. Must be capable of working with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to work all shifts. A written test may be given as part of the company’s evaluation of aptitude for the job. All work described above to be done in an efficient and workman-like manner. This position is subject to duties as assigned and shift work.

Additional KSA’s:

Position requires a thorough knowledge of the load bearing capabilities of the equipment used, as well as an understanding of blueprints and technical instructions. Primary purpose of installing, maintaining, upgrading, and fabricating machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishment. Have basic electrical knowledge.

Typical duties include:

  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Dismantle machinery or equipment, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs.
  • Assembles machinery and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • May operate lathe or milling machine to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  • Required repair and lubricate machinery and equipment.
  • Selects cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook.
  • May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment.

Must be able to:

  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Follow instructions and read blueprints. Use logical step-by-step procedures in work
  • Look at flat drawings or pictures and visualize how they would look as a solid object.
  • Work at heights without fear.
  • Plan work and solve problems. Make decisions based on measurable information.
  • Perform a variety of duties which may change often; and operate machinery.
  • Work safely and complete all applicable safety cards, work permits and follow company policies.

Millwrights must be physically able to:

  • Use hands and fingers fully; reach for, manipulate, and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures; and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time.

Qualifications and Work Experience:

  • Five (5) years of relevant service in industrial plant maintenance as a certified/qualified millwright.
  • Graduated from an applicable certified millwright program. Will consider additional years of employment in lieu of.
  • Successfully pass the Master Mechanic test as designated by the Company.
  • 3-5 years of experience in oxygen/acetylene cutting and plasma cutting, MIG/TIG welding and electrode welding, pipe welding, fabrication
  • Completed a rigging and hoisting course/certification program preferred
  • Certified or Crane Operator course completion certificate preferred
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to motivate and safely lead other mechanics in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands on knowledge test of abilities as determined by the Company.

Open positions will be filled by qualified candidates at the Company’s discretion and business needs. Job description is subject to updates as necessary. Employees may only test once per 6 month period.
