GAB-Machinist

Job Description:

Skilled Machinist will operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. Will produce or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements. Possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. Must have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions. The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.

Job Requirements:

• Proven experience as machinist.
• Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, milling machines, etc.)
• Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements.
• Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop.
• Proficient in math with analytical abilities.
• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items.
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Follow instructions and read blueprints.
• Look at flat drawings or pictures and visualize how they would look like solid objects.
• Use logical step-by-step procedures at work.
• Plan work and solve problems.
• Make decisions based on measurable information.
• Perform a variety of duties which may change often; and operate machinery.
• Coordinate eye-hand movements.
• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety.
• Daily housekeeping in and around work area.
• This job is also subject to duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

• Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred.
• 3-5 years of fabrication/machinist in an industrial or mine setting or equivalent experience.
