SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service to patrons. Promotes and follows LJBTC, Inc's Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring lasting impressions of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules dining reservations and arranges parties or special services for diners following set procedures.

  • Arranges parties or special services for meals following the setup procedures.

  • Greets guests in a friendly and courteous manner, escorts them to tables, and provides menus.

  • Promptly answers all incoming calls and accurately handles reservations and message taking.

  • Assigns work stations and coordinates activities of dining room personnel to ensure prompt and courteous service to patrons.

  • Inspects dining room serving stations for neatness and cleanliness, and requisitions table linens and other dining room supplies for tables and serving stations.

  • Delegates responsibility with follow-up to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness.

  • Investigates and resolves food quality and service complaints.

  • Inspects "side work" (preparation and closing work) assignments to assure tasks are completed.

  • Assigns work to bar staff and expedites food orders.

  • Collects and processes payments from customers.

  • Totals receipts at the end of shift and collects server transactions. Verifies sales and clears cash register.

  • Responsible for opening/closing procedures of Dining Room.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

OUTCOME

The host(ess) creates the first impression on the phone or in person. It is a position that is essential to the efficient and smooth operation of the dining room to ensure that customers have a positive dining experience and to ensure that employees have appropriate supervisory guidance.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in supervision in the restaurant dining area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and solving problems.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience at a restaurant preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have and maintain current Food Handlers Card.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The pace is generally moderate and may be quite fast.

INTERACTION

Employees in this position have daily interaction with managers, supervisors, service and kitchen personnel, as well as customers. Employees also regularly interact with other department personnel. SCHEDULING

This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated, as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
