Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. As an award winning 20,000 acre development, the development encompasses a private member’s only club which includes a marina, restaurants, an equestrian center, a shooting club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, a lawn and racquet club, and more. In addition, Palmetto Bluff has an extensive nature preserve, walking trails, retail shopping, and a vibrant village, all which pay homage to the region’s rich heritage.

Job Summary:

The Retail Attendant will warmly greet all visitors, offer direction and will be knowledgeable of the store products offered. The Retail Attendant will actively maintain the image of the store by refolding apparel and organizing as needed inside the store. The Retail Attendant will process transactions, process gift certificates, as well as handle refunds and exchanges. The Retail Attendant is an ambassador of Palmetto Bluff and will be expected to be knowledgeable about all amenities and experiences available on property as well as aware of what is taking place on property each day.

Essential Job Functions:

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

  • Greet all guests warmly upon arrival
  • Provide assistance to guests in the retail shop, both by telephone and face to face
  • Actively sell merchandise to achieve daily sales goals
  • Receive and stock merchandise as needed
  • Maintain retail displays, replenishing and rearranging stock as necessary
  • Accurately process payments per established standards
  • Create and assemble gift boxes ordered by groups
  • Execute the shipping of guest purchases as requested, maintain packing supplies.
  • Participate in monthly physical inventories in all stores as required
  • Proactively communicate low stock or customer requests
  • Perform end of shift closeout accurately and efficiently
  • Handle all returns and refund per standards
  • Promote positive relations with guests and staff members
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions as scheduled

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate
  • Experience in a retail environment
  • Experience in the hospitality industry helpful
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, support departments, and guests
  • Professional and personable demeanor


Physical Demands:

  • Position requires walking and standing most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable method of transportation to/from work
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to carry up to 35 lbs. (wine cases, produce, etc.)
  • Talking and listening occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
