Position Summary:
Assist with supervision, counseling and exercise program planning of cardiac patients in the cardiac rehabilitation program. Develop individual exercise prescriptions. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Detailed responsibilities:
* PROGRAM ENTRANCE - Review qualified patient charts and complete program paperwork for patient entrance into the program
* SCHEDULING - Schedule patients for screening interview prior to entrance into the program
* SCHEDULING - Assist with scheduling tests necessary for entrance into the program
* PROGRAM ENTRANCE - Review client charts and complete paperwork for entrance to program
* EXERCISE - Evaluate program client exercise performance, and develop exercise prescription and training program
* EXERCISE - Administer exercise session of cardiac clients
* QUALITY & DOCUMENT - Monitor client care delivery in accordance with quality assurance standards; ensure documentation of all client care activities
* TREADMILL - Operate treadmill machine in conjunction with electrocardiograph; provide documentation to test administrator prior to procedure initiation
* CONSENT - Ensure consent forms for procedure are in order
* TEST INFORMATION - Obtain test information from patient requisition forms including past heart disorders or special medication affecting test results and procedures
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Maintain equipment, order and stock supplies, maintain patient care areas
* COMMUNICATION - Notify supervisor of unusual conditions or patient behaviors
* TESTS - Review stress test results noting appropriate information
* QUALITY & DOCUMENT - Perform quality assurance in monitoring test results and document patient care activities
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Credentials:

* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
* Intermediate Life Support Certification w/in 6 months

Physical Conditions:
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
