JOB SUMMARY


The Dir, eDiscovery position is responsible for the development and oversight of processes that ensure Charter’s compliance with Charter’s Legal Hold and eDiscovery policies. This position will manage a team that supports Charter attorneys in the execution of litigation and compliance matters.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Support Charter and outside counsel attorneys by providing expertise in custodian/system scoping, data collection, and data processing/review/and production processes.
  • Develop strategic plans that include process and technology improvements.
  • Develop and manage team and e-discovery budgets, ensuring strict fiscal adherence.
  • Automate and implement tools necessary to efficiently and effectively track, assess, and report on legal matters.
  • Oversee the custodian email journaling process.
  • Ensure structured and unstructured data is preserved appropriately.
  • Direct and have oversight of the collection of responsive data.
  • Serve as a liaison with custodians and data owners (systems) as to where data resides and how it is used.
  • Provide 30(b)(6) support and testimony as required.
  • Assist in scoping litigation holds.
  • Manage the relationship with e-discovery vendors.
  • Audit legal hold processes to ensure compliance.
  • Provide timely reporting on all e-discovery efforts.
  • Identify trends and making recommendations for process and vendor changes.
  • Update and maintain Charter’s Legal Hold eDiscovery processes.
  • Lead and develop a team of direct reports to include hiring, coaching, and evaluating performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 


Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Proven litigation practice, project management, and business analysis experience
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy, professionalism and client-service orientation
  • Thorough knowledge of software used in the electronic discovery process. Specific experience with Relativity is required
  • Detailed knowledge of litigation and related discovery processes
  • Working knowledge of enterprise-class production IT systems such as Exchange email, ERP systems, and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of case law applicable to electronic discovery and of the electronic discovery process, including evolving technical and operational standards created through case law, rulemaking, and groups such as EDRM
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and strong leadership skills
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable effective and professional communication with clients, colleagues, and vendors
  • Experience preparing analytics and reports using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint


Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience


Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years

  • Ediscovery experience – 7+
  • Project management experience – 7+

Preferred Education

  • Project Management or eDiscovery certificate preferred
