Job Summary and Qualifications

The Radiation Oncology Nurse is a registered professional nurse who specializes in the care of individuals receiving radiotherapy for treatment of cancer. The nurse is an integral member of the healthcare team and collaborates with the Radiation Oncologist and Radiation Therapist to coordinate services, ensure quality patient care and to provide continuity, during the treatment course and follow-up period. The nurse will assess and provides appropriate nursing intervention for actual and potential problems that the patient and family may experience related to the disease process and treatment. The practice of the Radiation Oncology Nurse predominantly is direct care and encompasses patient and family teaching, symptom management, and counseling. The nurse is an advocate for the patient and family.

Qualifications:

  • One year medical-surgical nursing 
  • One year oncology nursing preferred
  • One year office nursing preferred
  • IV certification preferred
  • Current California Nursing License
  • OCN Certification preferred
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Provider Course
