The Clinical Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for assisting with general duties such as preventive maintenance, quality control, and stocking inventory under the supervision of the general supervisor and clinical laboratory scientists (CLSs).
Shift: Wednesday-Saturday 7:00am-5:30pm
Responsibilities
The laboratory assistant is responsible for the following (as needed):
General Duties
- Assist licensed testing personnel (other than trainees) Assist in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
- Assist in the performance of quality control procedures
- Prepare and store reagents as instructed
- Organize and clean lab space and equipment
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the general supervisor or their designee
- Inventory Management
- Stock reagents, consumables, and lab supplies Refill water, and discard non-hazardous waste Receive deliveries
- Reorder inventory
- Perform inventory audits
- Sample Storage
- Archive samples to storage
- Retrieve samples from storage
- Process Control
- Log occurrences of any errors or problems
- Notify a CLS or supervisor of occurrences as soon as possible Complete Jira tickets punctually
Qualifications and Experience
- A four-year degree in mathematics, science, engineering, or the equivalent from an accredited college or university is required
- Experience with laboratory operations and procedures preferred
- Ability to work diligently with minimal supervision
- Basic computer proficiency
- Good attendance record Punctuality
Supervision
- Position is under the supervision of clinical laboratory scientists and the general supervisor
- Position requires direct and constant supervision when assisting testing personnel in the analytical phase of testing
- Position requires on-site supervision by a general supervisor when performing clinical laboratory assistant duties
