Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
  • Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Texas
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Successful completion of background checks and any additional screenings as mandated by state and local regulations
  • Understanding of educational practices and procedures related to occupational therapy in school settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other school staff

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' functional abilities, limitations, and needs
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and interventions to address students' occupational therapy goals
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in individual or group settings, focusing on improving functional skills and independence
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the educational team to support students' academic and functional success
  • Monitor students' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed, documenting all interventions and progress notes accurately
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other collaborative meetings to ensure students' needs are addressed comprehensively
  • Stay current with best practices in occupational therapy and participate in professional development activities
