JOB DESCRIPTION


Our client is seeking a professional with oversight and management of the Mill Production, Maintenance, Reliability, and Inspection teams and processes, coordinating with leaders to determine engineering solutions for quality and throughput optimization without a given solution process. This position reports directly to the General Manager and would be responsible for successfully leading 3 - 4 teams. Great opportunity for future growth professionally and financially.


  • At least 6 - 10 years of experience in a management position at a steel, aluminum, or paper mill (Team Manager or higher)
  • B.S. in Engineering or related field, or equivalent working experience
  • Plant maintenance knowledge is key experience with the stages of transitioning a steel slab to a coil; reduction, prep, and coating processes
  • Basic understanding of heat, mass transfer, and material plasticity
  • Experience managing a maintenance team and/or working in a maintenance role
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing methodologies to troubleshoot and solve problems (RCFA, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively work cross-functionally with various groups
  • Ability to develop and deliver technical presentations at senior management level
  • Proficiency in MS Office products

  • Strong working knowledge of SAP applications preferred
  • Advanced degree in engineering or business preferred
  • Experience driving a quality culture preferred

WHAT YOULL BE DOING

  • Responsible for general oversight and management of the Mill Production, Maintenance, Reliability and Inspection teams and processes
  • Coordinating with leaders to determine engineering solutions for quality and throughput optimization without a given solution process
  • Coordination of measures to ensure trouble-free production
  • Coordination of measures to ensure responsive maintenance
  • Provide leadership for direct reports and wider organization, including serving as a key Subject Matter Expert (SME) and escalation point for questions of compliance and technical issues relating to the device constituent/components
  • Approval signature for key documents, including for risk assessments, DHF deliverables, trend signal reviews/reports and high-risk investigations
  • Interact and communicate with Senior Leadership regarding risks, mitigation plans, and status updates on business objectives
  • In collaboration with other SMEs, identify and implement new or modify existing processes and procedures to enhance and maintain our clients products program compliance and drive product improvements
  • Actively participate in strategic planning and tactical implementation of company goals
  • Provide strategic consulting for programs being developed or implemented
  • Manage and set yearly budgets
  • Develop and implement product and process improvement strategy
  • Facilitate policy development and deployment throughout the corporation
  • Work to achieve program standardization between businesses
  • Develop and assess metrics
  • Lead and facilitate implementation of new regulations
