(SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. SA-TECH provides the U. S. Army, other U.S. agencies and allied nations with Aerial Target Flight Services (ATFS), operating and maintaining aerial target flight operations for any directed mission and aerial target flight operations and maintenance services at Fort Bliss, TX; White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM; and other Posts, Camps, and Stations (PCS) in the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside CONUS (OCONUS).


We are currently seeking to hire an Aircraft Mechanic with A&P certification at WSMR based in our facilities in Orogrande, NM to repair and overhaul aircraft and aircraft engines.


Our Aircraft Mechanics apply advance skills and knowledge of target operations to accurately make sound decisions in planning for operations as well as to instruct subordinate mechanics. You’ll need to be able to evaluate equipment and procedures to continually improve working conditions and productivity. You’ll be required to troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structures, flight surfaces and controls, and engines. You’ll repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures such as wings, fuselages, empennages, functional components, and surface controls using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brakes, rivet guns, and drills.


You must be able to utilize precision measuring devices such as micrometers, inclinometers, target-specific test sets, DVMs, and any other provided equipment to examine engines for needed repairs, such as leaks. You’ll operate engines to detect and diagnose malfunctions as well as inspect jet engines (and components) for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments. You’ll need to replace electrical wiring harnesses and aircraft accessories, perform pre-flight and post-flight maintenance inspections, and perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including (but not limited to) packing parachutes, flushing engines, and cleaning aircraft and filters.


Our mechanics read and interpret OEM technical manuals, ATFS procedures, service bulletins and EMIs, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and methods of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. You’ll need to make applicable entries in the target log books, forms and records describing the work performed and verifying your work was suitably completed. You’ll also be expected to clean work areas and machines, tools and equipment as well as perform any other duties assigned such as mowing, weed-eating, police calls and F.O.D. walks. Mechanics will follow all company, safety and installation policies that pertain to the day-to-day functions of their duties.


It is the responsibility of the Aircraft Mechanics to oversee, train and monitor Aircraft Mechanic Workers and Aircraft Mechanic Helpers to ensure they are knowledgeable and proficient at the tasks that they are assigned to perform. All individuals are expected to train other co-workers (no matter their position) on areas that they have more proficiency or knowledge in. Each mechanic has a responsibility to seek additional training for self-improvement. As a SA-TECH/ATFS mechanic, you may be required to be licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration.


Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary but some work will be accomplished in enclosed buildings.
  • There will be work on the range throughout the year so temperatures will vary over the course of the year.
  • Daily work will include 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, and 5% lifting (you must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds assisted by others).
  • Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within our scope of work.
  • The position will require overtime and weekend work.
  • You must be able to deploy to both CONUS and OCONUS for short stints.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma and five (5) years of related job experience or educational equivalent.
  • Must have a current FAA A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) certification.
  • Strong mechanical background with knowledge of Avionics Mechanics preferred.
  • Current NM or TX Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance within 45 days of hire date and maintain Clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
