BOP Technician

Description:

Specialized position requiring skills to install or field repair blow out preventers in accordance with industry procedures to minimize any downtime and maximize utilization.

Responsibilities:

• Servicing blow out preventers, pack offs, reel swivels, lubricators, iron and down hole tools etc.
• Examine, repair, test, and maintain products at the rig site or in the shop.
• Advise company representative on repair or replacement options and costs of products.
• Performing and documenting all pressure tests for these components after service
• Obtaining and maintaining an inventory of expendable materials and parts for these items
• Provide field service and customer support to include, but not limited to equipment removal, tear down, troubleshoot, evaluate, repair, test and install.
• Load and unload material for repair projects
• Ability to communicate with client, supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel, etc., as it relates to the job.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of the BOP system to ensure optimal performance
• Participate in safety meetings and drills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least three (3) years’ experience working with servicing BOP’s and/or downhole tools
• Experience in managing expendable materials inventory
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Good communications and organizational skills
• Ability to lift a minimum of 100lbs and pass the work steps physical
• Good knowledge of BOP systems and drilling operations
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment
• Willingness to work on a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
