This position is for 3rd shift, and the pay for 3rd shift is $25.30 an hour (that has the included shift differential figured in).
WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
Emphasis- Swiss CNC & multi axis turning centers.
We are searching for a Manufacturing/Process engineer with direct experience in close tolerance Swiss CNC and multi axis turned parts.
WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
To meet all MPI Machine Operator Level I requirements. Become knowledgeable with all machine functions. Complete all level II requirements prior to transferring to level III.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Shall meet all MPI Machine Operator Level I requirements.
- Ability to use most types of inspection equipment at the MPI facility.
- Maintain high levels of efficiency and time utilization.
- Maintain a high level of quality.
- Know all functions of the machine tool to include tool replacement at all assigned machines.
- Acquire the permissions on the CNC machine authorization for tool changes and clearing and resetting of machine alarms.
- Knowledge of all MPI policies and procedures explained in the MPI handbook.
- Ability to perform all inspection activities on the Quality Characteristic Control Chart with little to no errors or omissions.
- Demonstrate a continued effort to improve department order and cleanliness.
- Good understanding of tooling applications to include standard and form cutting tools.
- Complete knowledge of all aspects of the Laser measurement devices and / or the use of the MDI program for tool replacements and tool touch offs.
- Understand the difference between geometry and wear offsets.
- Ability to interpret in-process inspection criteria on the Quality Characteristic Control Chart.
- Demonstrate good communication skills.
- Ability to help others to achieve good time utilization.
- Acquire the permissions on the CNC machine authorization for tool offsets.
- Understand the concept of machine offsets.
- Maintain an attendance and tardiness record within set limits of company policy.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area over the duration of your shift.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the shift lead person.
- Follow good safety habits and the company’s safety guidelines.
Non-Essential Functions of the Job:
- Should consider a basic blueprint reading course and/or a geometric tolerancing and dimensioning course at a local Vo-Tech or similar type of school.
- Assist in other areas of the facility as needed.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
- 1-2 years previous machining experience necessary, or a completed Vo-Tech machine tool course.
- Knowledge of how to use MPI’s inspection equipment, and train others to use properly.

- Must be able to move and transport 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
- Must be able to maintain a stationary position for the entire shift.
- Must be able to reach above shoulders, and rotate torso 60% of the shift.
- Must be able to work shift hours and days as assigned.
- Must work at an acceptable pace to meet current cycle times.
- Must be able to work on multiple machines as assigned.
- Must wear personal protection equipment as required including, but not limited to, hearing protection, non-slip shoes, safety glasses.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work in the following work environment:
- Moderate noise levels from machinery.
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
- Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
- Skin exposed to oils and cutting fluids.
Must wear personal protection equipment as required including, but not limited to, hearing protection, non-slip shoes, safety glasses. All offers are contingent upon successfully passing a background check and drug screen.
